TN QSO Party 2024 Outing Reports

TN QSO Party 2024

In spite of the storms, solar and terrestrial, we pushed our score past last
year’s effort by almost 300, 000 points. Our 1,677 QSOs included 1,130
unique calls, 14 DXCC entities, 48 states (missed AK, HI) and 6 VE
provinces. We only lost about 26 minutes of operating time Sunday afternoon
when lightning got just too close for comfort. Our setup at Mark’s station
consisted of two Flex 6600m’s with amps and an Elecraft K3 @100w. Antennas
were 3-high stack of 6L10m, 5/5 15M, 5/5 20m, 3L40M, 40M rotatable dipole,
80m 4-square and 160m inverted-L.

Our operating team consisted of Gary K4VIG, Billy KE4CMA, Clayton KJ4YLR,
Karen KX4KM, Bill W4XK, Corey W4ZHA, Bryan W5MZ, Mark K0EJ and myself.
Bryan and Clayton drove down from Kentucky to join in the fun. Our team
included 6 TCG members and 3 likely future members. Paul WA4AA came by for a
visit and to lend moral support.

Special thanks to Mark for hosting this operation and making it fun for all
of us. There may be a few pictures available but if we weren’t operating, we
were eating, not taking pictures. There was plenty of good food!!

Congrats to the mobiles: AD4EB Team, K1GU and the AC6ZM Team. Thank you
for your efforts!

Comments:

It was our pleasure to represent the Tennessee Contest Group as the bonus
station, K4TCG, in the Tennessee QSO Party. Thanks to Mark K0EJ for hosting
this
multi-multi operation at his very nice contest station on Mowbray Mountain
in
Hamilton County just north of Chattanooga. It was our intent to provide the
bonus points to as many stations as possible. Thanks to all those who did
give
us a call. You certainly made it fun for us, we hope you had fun too.
Until next year…
